With a winter chill and holiday spirit in the air, the backdrop was set for a very heartwarming day at City Hall in Manchester, N.H. on Dec. 11, as the New Hampshire Motor Speedway Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities held its third annual grant distribution ceremony.

With help from many wonderful corporate sponsors, volunteers, board members and race fans from across New England, the SCC was able to distribute over $169,000 to 44 regional non-profit organizations across New England. The grants will have an impact on over 49,000 children in need.

Nearly all of the organizations were on hand to collect their respective checks from Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of NHMS, Cheryl LaPrade, director of the N.H. Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities and the Mayor of Manchester Ted Gatsas.

Money for the grants is raised through events such as celebrity dinners, golf tournaments, track walks, silent auctions, the Red Bucket Brigade and the Ride of a Lifetime, which allows fans to bid on a chance to ride with their favorite NASCAR driver at different Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI) tracks.

The N.H. Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped us in 2012. We wish you and your families a very happy and healthy holiday season and are looking forward to an even bigger and better 2013!
